  • Natural History Museum of Utah The Natural History Museum of Utah is a working scientists’ museum that includes paleontology exhibits and a lot more. Here are the museum’s free days for 2015
  • Pioneer Memorial MuseumThe free Pioneer Memorial Museum on the grounds of the Utah State Capitol is dedicated to the lives and belongings of Utah’s Mormon pioneers. Highlights include Brigham Young’s wagon and an antique steam fire engine.
  • Governor’s Mansion (Kearns Mansion) Located on South Temple between “G” & “H” Streets, the mansion was built as a residence for early mining executive Thomas Kearns and is now the official residence of Utah’s Governor. The Governor’s Mansion is open for public tours.
  • Hill AeroSpace Museum One of the finest collections of historic and modern US Air Force aircraft, missiles, munitions, and artifacts in America. Visit the Gift Shop for aviation books, models, and clothing. Be sure to stop in the Aerospace Center for Education (ACE) learning center to fly the F-16 simulator. Free Admission. No gate pass required.
  • Clark Planetarium The star shows and IMAX theater at the Clark Planetarium aren’t free, but the planetarium does have a number of free exhibits that are interesting and worth a look, especially if you’re in the area.
  • Fort Douglas Military Museum The Fort Douglas Military Museum is dedicated to the history of Fort Douglas and U.S. military history, with hundreds of weapons uniforms, and other items on display. The Fort Douglas grounds offer lots of opportunities for historical exploration, including displays of cannons, helicopters and armored vehicles.
